Our topic this half term is...

Paws, Claws and Whiskers

In this topic we will be learning about big cats and domestic cats. We will be looking at the similarities and differences between them and will be looking at non-fiction books in our 'savannah' small world play area. Our café has now been transformed into a vet (milfeddygfa) and the children will be roleplaying making ill pets well again. Mrs Lynch a veterinary nurse will also be coming into school to talk to the children about her interesting work.

We welcome visits from friendly cats! This aspect of our topic work proved very popular last year and the children enjoyed being given the opportunity to ask questions and learn about each other's pets.

This is another very busy half term. We will be celebrating St David's Day, discussing Mothers' Day and will of course be preparing for Easter.

We are continuing to learn about letters and their corresponding sounds this term! Using our Read Write Inc scheme we are now beginning to recognise, write and 'blend' sounds in preparation for more advanced reading activities. We are doing this in a fun and lively way, learning one new sound each week.

Thank you to all the parents who attended our Parents' meetings. We are always happy to help and to address any concerns you may have.
