All children from Year 2 – 6 will be required to take the tests during the period 4th – 10th May. If your child is absent for this period they will be unable to re take the tests and will therefore not be included in the school data.
Whilst some preparation for the tests may be helpful at home I can assure you that a great deal of work has been done already in school. My greatest wish is that the children are not put under any undue pressure and are not stressed or upset by the taking of the tests and that they are able to view them as a ‘challenge’.
The data generated will be used in order to inform our teaching and indicate areas where we need to further support your child over the coming months. The children will take three tests, reading comprehension, numeracy procedural and numeracy reasoning.
The standardised age scores (SAS) for your child will be provided for you prior to the end of the summer term.
The best way I feel, that you could help to prepare your child/ren for the tests is to ensure that they are happy, relaxed, have had a good night’s sleep and have the correct equipment with them each day. I feel sure that they will do the rest.
Thank you once again for all your support. I hope the next few weeks are both enjoyable and successful for everyone.
Yours sincerely,
JOHN MacLENNAN
