paws .b is a primary curriculum in mindfulness created by Ysgol Pen Y Bryn teachers, Sarah Silverton, mindfulness teacher and trainer with Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University and Richard Burnett and Chris Cullen the creators of .b a secondary curriculum in mindfulness.
The paws .b curriculum is delivered by the children’s classroom teachers, following training in mindfulness for their own personal and professional support, with supervision and support from an experienced mindfulness teacher.
paws .b is is taught in PSE lessons but also through integrating the learning and practice with all the National Curriculum subjects and in the children’s everyday lives.
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness involves learning to direct our attention to our experience as it unfolds, moment by moment, with open-minded curiosity and acceptance.
Mindfulness in Schools Conference 2013
Teachers and pupils from Pen Y Bryn were asked to speak at the Mindfulness in Schools Conference in London in March. The conference was attended by seven hundred people from all around the World. We were extremely proud of our pupils with how they spoke about their experiences of mindfulness and how it has helped them in their everyday lives. The presentation given by Ysgol Pen Y Bryn was extremely well received.
Pen Y Bryn pupils talk to the renowned John Kabat Zin who travelled from America for the conference. He is widely recognised as the leading World expert in mindfulness. he was extremely impressed with our pupil's confidence, experience and understanding of mindfulness.
