Maths Makes Sense

The school has started using Maths Makes Sense to teach maths. So far this term, the children have been learning how to add up, take away, multiply, divide and halves and quarters, using Mr Cup Man.

Here is a list of phrases you might find helpful when you are working with your child.

Adding - Get ready to get some more

Subtracting - Get ready to take away

Multiplication - Freeze, I love what you're doing, do the same thing lots of times

Division - Look and wonder about piles of -- cups

Equals - Look at the maths table and count. How much is there here? How many cups are there?

Fractions - Ooh that's tricky. Ooh ooh the glue. Same value swap. Same value, different appearance.
