We have been learning our phonic sounds. Thank you for your help at home. It is important to practise the sounds daily.
Sounds books and reading books need to be returned every Thursday. Please would you ensure it is sent in a book bag to keep it safe. Thank you!
We have now covered all of speed sounds 1:
m, a, s, d, t, i, n, p, g, o, c, k, u, b, f, e, l, h, sh, r, j, v, y, w,th, z, ch,q, x, ng and nk.
We will also be encouraging all the children to blend these sounds to read
some three letter words, eg. mat, dad, mad, sad, at sat.
Your child will be bringing home books to practise their sounds and word blending.
When your child is comfortable with word blending
we will begin to introduce speed sounds 2 to them.
We have begun to introduce some of the sounds from speed sounds 2:
ay -may I play
ee -what can you see?
igh -fly high
ow -blow the snow
oo -poo at the zoo
oo -look at a book
ar -start the car
or -shut the door
air -that's not fair
ir -whirl and twirl
ou -shout it out
oy -toy for a boy
