We are learning to experiment with different everyday objects and use our senses to sort them into groups according to simple features.
This week we are learning about the sense of HEARING. We have been discussing why we need the to hear what we use it for. We have been listening to lots of different sounds and guessing what they are! Children have been on a Sound Trail around our school listening for different sounds. We have also been listening to stories and music using a CD player! Ask your child what they have been doing this week.....
This week we are learning about the sense of SIGHT. We have been discussing why we need the to sight. We have been learning to use only our sense of sight to observe things around our school. We draw what we saw above, below and to the left/right of us in the outside area. Children were also all given a small new potato to look at every day. At the end of the week children will mix all their potatos up and see if they can find theirs using only sight!
This week we are learning about the sense of SMELL. We have been discussing why we need smell. We have been learning to use only our sense of smell to observe identify a range of foods and smelly objects. Children were have been making a list of things they like/dislike to smell. We have an investigation table where children can explore differen smelly things, so far, we have an onion and orange!
