Home Learning Tasks for week beginning Monday 20th July

This is our final week together in Year 5!

We are looking forward to seeing many of you in class again this week!

Our main tasks this week are the WELLBEING tasks that have been uploaded and also found on the school website: https://www.ysgolpenybryn.com/wellbeing-at-ysgol-pen-y-bryn/

Thank you to all who took part in the Ysgol Pen Y Bryn Virtual Sports Day and sent your forms in, we hope you enjoyed the sports day with a difference?

Finish the tasks set in school - remember to bring them in with you on your day.

This week is your chance to check through the set work from the past few weeks of this new situation and complete any MISSING TASKS from Google Classroom and MyMaths.

Due to popular demand, we will set ONE LAST QUIZ during the week for you to complete.

We would like to thank you all for trying so hard during this period, it's not the Year 5 we were looking forward to - look out for the Year 5 Memories Task that will be uploaded for you to do.

Home Learning

Hi everyone! Mr Dentith, Miss Brown and Miss McTague here!

We hope you are all well and that you are enjoying your time at home with your families. Just a quick message to let you know that home learning will begin on 6th April so there is no need for you to complete any of the activities already set until then. Please make sure that you keep up with your reading and times tables though. There is also a Home Learning part of the website that you can find under Children and then it's right at the bottom. There are lots of fun activities for you to look at here including the Lego challenge, Welsh phrases of the week and Health and Wellbeing activities.

Miss Brown, Miss McTague and I will begin to post work into www.mymaths.co.uk and Hwb from 6th April so make sure you keep a look out for that. Remember, if you complete anything independently, be sure to share it with us on Hwb so that we can see it.

Our email addresses for sharing activities are:

DentithD@hwbcymru.net

BrownH141@hwbcymru.net

MctagueA8@hwbcymru.net

See you all very soon!

Please see below for additional Literacy and Numeracy tasks. These tasks should only be completed if you have completed the weekly tasks to the absolute best of your ability and as you would usually do in school. Also some of the additional tasks are more challenging than others. Choose the ones that you think you will be able to complete. There will be marking sheets for most of these tasks so that you can mark them yourselves at home. The tasks will be updated for you every two weeks.

Croeso i dudalen Blwyddyn 5.

Welcome to the Year 5 page.

Mr Darren Dentith is the Class 5DD teacher with Mrs Katie Harvey as the TLA.

In Class 5HB, Miss Heidi Brown is the classteacher with Mrs Becky Williams the TLA.

We hope your child enjoys their time with us here in Year 5.

Our first topic was called "OFF WITH HER HEAD!" and based on life in Tudor Wales and Britain. The children enjoyed the topic, especially our visit to Conwy.

Our visit also kicked off our new topic "GALLERY" which had an art focus. Click on the link below to watch an artist the children loved - David Garibaldi

Gwaith Cartref Topic Blwyddyn 5

Our first topic in Year 5 is called “Off with her head!” - a history based topic focussing on life in Tudor Britain – to help us with our child led planning we have asked the children to think about things they would like to learn about. The homework is to create a PERSONAL TIMELINE of their life – picking no more than 9 life events starting with when/where they were born. Please feel free to use the template provided or use an alternative medium such as using ICT (No greater than A4). Try hard to include words and pictures/photos. The children will be presenting these in class on Thursday 12th September. Thank you in advance. Mr Dentith & Miss Brown
